PlexR Treatment Aftercare Guide

Thank you for choosing our PlexR treatment. This guide outlines essential aftercare steps designed to promote smooth healing, minimise side effects, and maximise your treatment results. Please read through these instructions carefully and contact our clinic if you have any questions or concerns during your recovery.

1. Caring for Your Treated Area

Keep It Clean and Dry

  • Gently cleanse the treatment area with a mild, non-alcoholic cleanser.
  • Pat the skin dry using a clean, soft towel—avoid rubbing.

Protect Your Skin

  • Always shield the area with a broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect new, delicate skin from harmful UV rays.
  • You may apply mineral-based makeup over the area if needed; however, ensure that your skin is completely healed before using any products that could irritate the area further.

Avoid Temperature Extremes

  • Steer clear of exposing the treated area to very high or low temperatures. Extreme heat or cold can disrupt the healing process, so try to maintain a neutral environment until fully healed.

2. Managing Side Effects

Swelling and Discomfort

  • Mild to moderate swelling is a normal response post-treatment. If you experience significant swelling, consider using a cold compress to soothe the area.
  • Over-the-counter anti-inflammatory or antihistamine medications may also help alleviate discomfort and reduce swelling if necessary (please consult with your clinician regarding the best option for you).

Crusting and Weeping

  • It is common for a crust to form on the treated skin. This crust may appear brown or black initially and will gradually flake off over several days.
  • The skin might also exude a slight weeping as part of the natural healing process. This should improve with time.

Important: Do not pick or scratch the crust, as this can increase the risk of infection or lead to scarring.

Signs of Infection

  • Monitor the area for any changes. If you notice increased redness or heat, or if the area begins to produce pus, these may be signs of an infection.
  • In such cases, please contact our clinic immediately so we can assess your condition and, if needed, start appropriate treatment (which may include antibiotics).

3. Daily Aftercare Routine

Immediately After Treatment & Days 1–4

  • Hygiene: Wash the area gently with lukewarm water and a non-abrasive cleanser twice daily.
  • Protection: After cleansing, apply your broad-spectrum sunscreen as soon as you step outdoors.
  • Environment: Keep the treated area uncovered—do not use occlusive dressings or plasters that might trap moisture and interfere with healing.

Days 5 and Beyond

  • Continued Cleansing: Maintain a gentle cleansing routine to keep the area free of debris and potential irritants.
  • Makeup Use: If you wish to use makeup, opt for mineral formulations and only after the initial healing phase when your skin has calmed down.
  • Temperature Caution: Continue to avoid extreme heat or cold until the skin has completely healed.
