Thread Vein Removal In Norwich
Thread veins (telangiectasia) are a common problem and occur in about half of adults. These are very fine dilated veins lying in the skin. They come from normal veins in the skin which grow much bigger than their usual size. They are eminently suitable for treatment with IPL and/or Harmony XL Pro long pulse vascular laser.
What are thread veins?
Thread veins and broken capillaries can cause unsightly red streaks and blotches under the skin. Typically occurring on the face as a result of ageing, sun damage or hormone imbalances, the appearance of these veins can be unsightly and embarrassing for the sufferer.
Prominent veins can also occur in the legs, often red, blue or purple in colour. In a similar sense to facial thread veins, such leg veins can be embarrassing and can result in many women feeling unable to wear skirts without tights.
Here at The Doctors Laser Clinic, we offer a variety of bespoke Harmony targeted laser and IPL treatments to successfully eliminate unsightly veins and capillaries.
An intense flash of light is administered to the treatment area, heating up the veins in question and rapidly sealing them off. This causes the veins to collapse, eventually being absorbed by the body within around 2-3 weeks.
Advanced Laser Technology
Thread veins tend to occur as we get older and skin becomes thinner and more fragile. We use the award-winning Harmony XL Pro laser to significantly reduce the appearance of Thread Veins and Rosacea, improving the quality of skin.
sclerotherapy leg veins Treatment
This is the most common treatment for leg veins. Sclerotherapy or injection of varicose veins is a procedure designed to improve the appearance of your varicose veins.
Frequently Asked Questions
During your consultation with us, we’ll answer any questions or concerns you may have.
Regardless of whether you’re receiving treatment for small broken capillaries in the face or extremely prominent leg thread veins, it’s essential to avoid sun exposure before treatment. Using a high-factor SPF 2-4 weeks before the procedure and for some time after is strongly recommended.
Upon arrival, we’ll cleanse the treatment area before applying a cooling gel. Photos will be taken to track progress, and a patch test conducted to avoid the risk of any potential allergic reactions during the actual treatment process.
Vein removal typically lasts between 10 and 60 minutes dependent on how severe the problem is, and you’ll likely experience a stinging sensation whilst the light beam is fired.
Skin may feel hot with a slight sunburnt appearance directly after the procedure. However, this should quickly subside with no specific down-time needed afterwards, meaning you’re safe to continue with your daily routine (as long as you avoid sun exposure!).
Very fine facial veins may require just one treatment to disappear completely. But, for larger thread veins in the legs to be eliminated, top-ups are often needed.
