How does a crow's feet treatment work?

Crow’s feet are defined as the lines extending from the corners of your eyes. As we age, these lines become far more prominent and are heightened whenever we use expressions such as smiling or squinting.

Crow’s feet are caused by the orbicularis muscle that surrounds the eye becoming contracted, dragging eyebrows down to the rim of the eye which creates lines extending out to the temples.

Whilst developing crow’s feet is a completely normal part of the ageing process, they can inadvertently make us look worried, tired and, quite simply, old.

Typically, anti-wrinkle injections are most effective for crow’s feet and can provide pleasing results. Here at The Doctors Laser Clinic, we consistently find the administration of just 9 units of anti-wrinkle treatment per eye is enough to relax the entire orbicularis muscle, and smooth out the appearance of all crow’s feet. It’s important to be patient with this procedure, as the full effect of anti-wrinkle treatment to crow’s feet will come to light within 14 days of treatment.

How injections works is by essentially ‘switching off’ the nerve endings in muscles, causing them to relax. Due to this, the muscle in question is no longer able to contract – this then softens the appearance of lines and wrinkles with the skin covering these muscles able to regenerate. Anti-wrinkle treatments can also be used in the armpits to treat excessive sweating.

Treatments will be discussed with you in more detail during your initial consultation, whereby a recommendation will be given specific to you and your skin type. As well as anti-wrinkle treatments which act as a wrinkle reduction technique, we offer filler treatments, which as the name suggests are more of a wrinkle filler procedure. Wrinkle fillers are simply used as ‘volumizers’ plumping and lifting cheeks, jawlines, filling out thin lips or reshaping uneven lips. The fillers plump up the tissue underneath the skin, shrinking wrinkles. As a result the skin becomes firmer, smoother, and younger looking!

Enhancing wrinkles with a natural ingredient to our skin, delivers a natural look and feel to the problem areas.

Frequently Asked Questions

During your consultation with us, we’ll answer any questions or concerns you may have.

During treatment, the solution will be injected directly into the muscles of the treatment area using a fine needle. As the needle is so small, it’s unlikely you’ll experience any pain; the most you’re likely to feel is a little sharp discomfort as the substance is injected.

A series of these injections will be administered, with a typical treatment session expected to last no longer then 15-20 minutes.

If you don’t instantly notice results after your first session, this is completely normal. Visible results are typically seen after around 7-9 days of treatment, but it could take up to 21 days for the full effect to develop.

The anti-ageing results can last anywhere between 2-5 months, meaning the results of this treatment aren’t permanent. To maintain a youthful, smooth complexion, you’ll likely need a series of top-up procedures between 2-4 times per year.
