Lumps, Bumps, Moles and Blemishes removal

Lumps, bumps, moles and other skin blemishes are common and most are regarded as cosmetic by the NHS so treatment is unavailable by that route. Anything diagnosed as an innocent, benign lesion is likely to be rejected by the NHS. The good news is that we have many years’ experience treating them safely at The Doctors Laser Clinic. Some lesions, especially pigmented one’s that are growing and changing have to be cut out by a dermatologist and put under the microscope to exclude the possibility of cancer. We can always advise if this is necessary. Safety is paramount. There are hundreds of different skin lesions.

Every patient coming to us is seen by an experienced Doctor prior to treatment. Options are discussed and a cooling off period is allowed to decide on whether to go ahead or not.

We will usually offer local or topical anaesthetic so the experience is not unpleasant.

We have the option of two different lasers for surgery CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) and Erbium. They give us the option to treat to within fractions of a millimetre accuracy meaning that damage to surrounding tissue is much less than with surgical excision, cryotherapy or cautery that is traditionally available elsewhere. The risk of scarring is substantially less as a result. The initial consultation will include a realistic assessment of the likelihood or not of scarring. The aim of course is to go for zero!

Most procedures can be completed within 30 – 60 minutes consultation time and the actual lasering is often over in a matter of minutes. We will give you aftercare instructions.

The majority of skin lesions are totally harmless and can be left as they are. However there maybe reasons for having the lump removed. Your lesion might be catching on clothing or may interfere with day to day life, or you may be self-conscious and wish to have the lesion removed for cosmetic reasons.

A series of these injections will be administered, with a typical treatment session expected to last no longer then 15-20 minutes.

If you don’t instantly notice results after your first session, this is completely normal. Visible results are typically seen after around 7-9 days of treatment, but it could take up to 21 days for the full effect to develop.

Whether you are in Norfolk or further afield we recommend you get the bump looked at by a professional as soon as you can. The Doctors Laser Clinic have seen thousands of different types of lumps, bumps, moles, and lesions over the years and are experts in identifying the best course of action.

Laser treatments have been carried out across the world for decades and are regarded as safe when carried out by a trained medical professional. Please follow the post procedure instructions we give you. We use medical grade lasers and are fully versed in all aspects of safety.

The laser works by focusing high energy light on the unwanted lump or bump. This energy heats the area and destroys the diseased or unwanted cells.

We have many lasers available at The Doctors Laser Clinic. The two that are used for lump and bump removal are Co2 and Erbium  Which one we use will depend on the type of lump after examination. All treatment information will be discussed with you at your consultation

The appointment will take approximately 30 minutes. Most of the time will be discussion regarding the treatment and aftercare information. You will have the opportunity to ask any question you like. The actual treatment usually will be over in a matter of minutes.

The removal of skin lesions is usually a painless procedure. You will be offered numbing options before the treatment. The laser treatment itself creates a warm sensation in the area to be treated but you may not even feel that.
