Pixel RF Microneedling Aftercare Guide
Thank you for choosing our Pixel RF Microneedling treatment. This guide outlines the essential steps and recommendations to ensure proper healing, reduce side effects, and achieve the best results. Please follow these instructions carefully and contact your practitioner if you have any concerns.
1. Initial Post-Treatment Care
Redness and Swelling
- It is normal to see redness and some swelling immediately after your treatment. These effects usually diminish within a few hours to a couple of days.
- If you experience significant pain or prolonged discomfort, please contact us at the clinic for further advice.
Sun Protection
- Avoid direct sun exposure immediately after treatment.
- For at least two weeks, wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher every day.
- Additional measures such as reapplying sunscreen, wearing a wide-brimmed hat, and seeking shade can offer extra protection.
2. Managing Skin Reactions
Healing and Skin Appearance
- In the days following your treatment, your skin might appear red, sore, or blotchy. Dryness, flakiness, and the formation of tiny needle-induced scabs can occur as part of the healing process.
- Allow these changes to resolve naturally—avoid picking, scratching, or aggressively cleansing the area, as this may lead to irritation or complications.
Sensitive Skin Care
- For the first 10–14 days, be gentle with your skin. Use a mild, soap-free cleanser.
3. Avoiding Irritants and Harmful Practices
Exfoliation and Retinoids
- Refrain from using any exfoliating treatments, including chemical exfoliants (such as AHA/BHA) or mechanical scrubs, until your skin has completely healed.
- Avoid products containing retinoids (like retinol or Retin-A) for at least two weeks post-treatment, as these can increase skin sensitivity.
Heat and Physical Activity
- Steer clear of heat-based treatments and activities that raise your body temperature. This includes hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, and intense workouts for at least three days following the procedure.
- If you must expose the treated area to heat, do so cautiously to avoid worsening inflammation.
Makeup and Skincare Products
- Avoid applying makeup to the treated areas for the first 24 to 72 hours. When you resume makeup use, choose non-comedogenic products and apply them gently with clean hands or a cotton swab.
- Hold off on introducing any new skincare products immediately after treatment, as your skin will be more delicate during the healing phase.
4. Daily Post-Treatment Routine
Hygiene and Moisturisation
- Cleanse your face gently 3–4 times a day with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser. Avoid using washcloths or abrasive sponges.
- Keep your skin well-hydrated.
Managing Crusting and Discomfort
- Small scabs (typically less than 1 mm) may form within 24–72 hours. Do not pick or scratch these; allow them to shed naturally.
- To help reduce discomfort and control swelling, you may apply an ice pack (wrapped in a towel) intermittently—about 15 minutes on, followed by 15 minutes off—for the first day.
5. Lifestyle and Dietary Recommendations
Hydration and Nutrition
- Drink plenty of water throughout your recovery to stay hydrated.
- Eat a diet rich in antioxidants—incorporate plenty of fruits and vegetables—to support your skin’s healing process.
Sleep and Environmental Care
- Ensure your sleeping area is clean; consider covering your pillowcase with a fresh towel for several days to avoid contamination.
- Sleep with your head elevated (using 2–3 pillows) to help reduce facial swelling.
6. Expected Timeline and Follow-Up
