Look After You Investment And It Will Look After You

You are spending your hard-earned money to dramatically reduce your hair. It makes sense that protecting your laser hair removal investment is a good idea. Whether you use The Doctors Laser Clinic or not for your hair removal, here are the basic steps to follow to give you the best chance of success. Follow these tips, alongside any information your practitioner has given you to get the most from your treatment. Here’s to maintaining smooth, hair-free skin.

Please bear in mind that this advice relates to the Soprano Titanium machine. Aftercare advice may vary if you receive the treatment from a different device.

Protecting Sensitive Skin

After your Laser Hair Removal session, your skin may well be more sensitive than usual. Avoid exposing your treated skin to the sun (this includes sunbeds). Sunburn can undo your progress and cause irritation. Use sunscreen with at least SPF 30 whenever you go outside and in certain circumstances indoors and in your car. Your skin needs protection to stay smooth and healthy.

no saunas after laser hair removals.

Gentle Post-Treatment Care

For a few days post-treatment, avoid hot water. Stick to lukewarm showers, as hot water can irritate your skin. Also, avoid steamy saunas and hot tubs. These can cause your skin to react negatively and may give way to redness and discomfort.

Exfoliation and Moisturising

Skip all thoughts of exfoliation immediately after your treatment. Avoid scrubs and loofahs to give your skin time to recover.
Moisturise your skin with a gentle, fragrance-free product. (Speak to us for recommendations). Hydrated skin heals better and maintains its smooth texture. Only use skin products that soothe and protect your skin, similar to caring for delicate fabric.

Managing Redness or Swelling

If you experience redness or swelling, use a cold compress (a cold flannel or towel will suffice) to soothe your skin. This is a common reaction and can be managed easily. Aloe vera (not an aloe vera product containing alcohol), can be used to manage redness and any mild sunburn effects.

Exercise and Physical Activity

Avoid vigorous activities that make you sweat for a day or two after your treatment. Sweating can irritate your freshly treated skin, so it’s best if you keep your physical activity light and gentle.

Just Don’t Touch The Area!

Leave the treated area alone! Let the process take its course and wait out the hair shedding. Don’t give in to temptation to pick at any hair regrowth. Avoid waxing or depilatories between sessions. If you feel the need to manage the hair in between sessions, shaving is fine, but please let your skin settle beforehand. Harsher treatments such as microdermabrasion and laser may need a longer gap after your sessions. The point is to avoid disturbing the hair follicles. Please check with us if you are in any doubt. You can contact us with your questions at the clinic anytime.

Additional Tips for Long-Term Care

Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water helps your skin stay hydrated and healthy, promoting better healing and long-term results.

Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Steer clear of harsh skincare products like retinoids or alpha hydroxy acids on the treated areas for at least a week post-treatment.

Patience is Key: Remember that laser hair removal is a process. Multiple sessions are often required to achieve optimal results. Follow the recommended schedule and care instructions diligently.

Clothing Choices: Wear loose, comfortable clothing to avoid friction on treated areas. Tight clothes can irritate and delay healing.

Observe and Report: Keep an eye on your skin. If you notice any unusual reactions or prolonged irritation, consult us, or the clinic you used promptly.

Post Course Completion

Schedule Maintenance Sessions: Yes, laser hair removal provides long-lasting results, but some hair regrowth may occur over time. Book occasional maintenance sessions to keep on top of regrowth.

Continue Sun Protection: Even after your treatment course, protect treated areas from sun exposure to maintain your results and prevent skin damage.

Healthy Lifestyle: A balanced diet and good skincare routine can help keep your skin healthy and less prone to skin issues.

Hormonal Changes: Please be aware that hormonal changes (like pregnancy or menopause) can affect hair growth. Consult with us here if you notice significant changes.
