Dermal Filler Aftercare Instructions
Following these aftercare instructions will help you achieve the best possible results from your dermal filler treatment and minimise the risk of any unwanted side effects.Immediately After Your Treatment (First 6 Hours):
- Avoid Touching: Refrain from touching, rubbing, or applying pressure to the treated area.
- Gentle Cleansing: After 5–6 hours, you can gently wash the area with a mild cleanser. Pat dry softly with a clean towel.
- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water.
For the Next 24–48 Hours:
- Avoid Strenuous Exercise: Minimise vigorous physical activity, as this can increase blood flow to the treated area and potentially cause the filler to move or exacerbate swelling.
- Avoid Alcohol: Refrain from consuming alcohol.
- Limit Sun and Heat Exposure: Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, saunas, hot tubs, and extreme cold. If you must be in the sun, wear a high SPF sunscreen.
- No rubbing: Do not rub the treated area for 48 hours. Keep pets away from the face.
First Week After Treatment:
| Care Instructions | Description |
|---|---|
| Manage Swelling and Bruising | Apply a cold compress to the treated area for 10-15 minutes at a time, several times a day, to alleviate swelling and bruising. |
| Gentle Skincare | Continue with a gentle skincare routine using non-irritating products. |
| Medications | Avoid anti-inflammatory painkillers like ibuprofen or aspirin, as these can thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising. Discuss pain management options with the clinic if you have concerns. |
| Avoid Any Procedures | Any procedures that could introduce bacteria into the bloodstream, such as dental treatment or surgery, should be avoided for two weeks following treatment. |
| Cold Sores | If you have a history of cold sores, be aware that dermal filler treatment in the area may cause a recurrence. Contact us if this happens. |
Long-Term Care
| Care Instructions | Description |
|---|---|

| Regular Consultations | Keep regular appointments with us for follow-ups. |

Patient Feedback
I was nervous at first to switch from my previous Filler provider and go elsewhere however I had found my experience with Malcolm to be more gentle on my face. My treatment was made more comfortable by Malcolm’s assistant Helen who was present too and because of there extra care I have booked a further treatment in for next week to have my fillers!
