- The new Soprano Ice is seen as the next generation of hair removal.
Why ICE?
The Soprano Ice uses an encircled sapphire tip. The gentle cooling treatment works by utilising the numerous cooling pumps within the applicator and a slow release of energy.

Rather than seeking individual chromophores at the hair root, the Soprano ICE collectively heats up and deactivates all the hair roots within a grid.
How the Soprano Laser works
The animation below demonstrates how the Soprano laser works. The laser flashes pure light ten times a second through the surface of the skin and the head is stroked backwards and forwards across the area.
With each pass, the coloured pigment in the hair heats up to 45ºC, causing the hair root to die. Because of the unique cooling mechanism, the skin stays cooler ensuring the treatment is relatively painless.
Pain free
Laser hair removal has previously been a painful experience as the energy of some lasers is delivered in short, sharp bursts. The way treatments are delivered with the Soprano Ice create a virtually painless experience.
The hair is then naturally extruded over the following 2-3 weeks.
Be wary of other lasers and IPL machines as these may blast the skin with a single massive flash of light that causes sudden heating of the skin. This is why they sting and at worst can cause serious burns.
For a further in depth look at why The Soprano laser is so unique, watch the video below. It was produced by the makers of The Soprano, so it is a ‘bit American’ but nevertheless gives a good idea how it works and what is involved.
In short, the film suggests that a laser, particularly the diode laser working at 810 nanometers (such as the Soprano), is the Gold standard for hair removal – specifically targeting the colouring in hair.
What is Super Hair Removal (SHR)?
SHR™ works by gradually heating the dermis to a temperature that effectively damages the hair follicles and prevents re-growth, while avoiding injury to the surrounding tissue.
A high repetition rate of short pulses are delivered deep into the dermis, achieving high average power and therapeutically effective heat build-up, with virtually no pain.
The sweeping In-motionTM technique of moving the applicator repeatedly over the treatment area ensures full coverage while ICETM tech cools the skin surface – preventing superficial burns and allowing for virtually painless, yet highly effective hair removal.
