There is a stigma attached to the general public that the way we dress and look is often influenced by what the latest celebrity is doing. Apparently we’re influenced by Celebrities hairstyles, their size zero figures and even influenced to use the same products and services that they use.
Are people having laser hair removal because the celebrities are having it or is there another reason?
The American ‘IT’ girl, Kim Kardashian, loves to make it public that she enjoys such treatments, so much so that she’s started taking her show biz partner, Kanye West, along to her favourite clinic.
“I am Armenian, so of course I am obsessed with Laser Hair Removal! Arms, bikini, legs, underarms… my entire body is hairless.” Kim Kardashian.
The UK’s equivalent ‘IT’ man and cage fighter, Alex Reid, is doing it too. He decided to have Laser Hair Removal ‘top-to-toe’ to keep himself looking good in the ring.
“I am a reasonably hairy guy, so I think this is going to save me a fortune on razors!”
But it’s not ALL about the ‘IT’ factor.

Laser Hair Removal is about confidence and practicality. Olympic gold medalist, Kerri Walsh Jennings, mother of 2, had Laser hair removal treatment simply because she was on the Beach Volleyball Team:
“I live in my bikini, so it’s really nice not to have to worry about shaving or waxing,” Kerri Walsh Jennings.
Some British Olympians have also undergone Laser Hair Removal treatment. Peter Waterfield, who partnered Tom Daley in the 10 metre synchro dive, had it for aesthetic reasons. Whereas volleyball players, Zara Dampney and Shauna Mullin, had it done for practical reasons – to keep on top of hair removal. Heptathlete Louise Hazel, found that not only does it save her time in the morning but it gives her more confidence knowing that she can wear her gear and feel ‘safe and sound’.
Do celebrities need Laser Hair Removal?
Obviously it’s up to the individual, but there have been two recent incidents in the press that do endorse the benefits of Permanent Hair Removal.
Gwyneth Paltrow
The actress is reported to have left a signed picture in her salon with the message “Thank you, you have changed my life” after having a Brazilian. Gwyneth came a cropper recently at the Iron Man 3 premier when she realised that due to the style of her dress she couldn’t wear any underwear. Her team allegedly had to go
‘scrambling for a razor’.
Rihanna
Some reports, if they are to be believed, suggest that the pop star Rihanna enjoys the pain of a good wax and will ask not to be given pain-numbing cream. She did, however, have to find a beautician at 2 am on the morning of the shooting of her music video ‘We found love’ as she needed a wax!
Conclusion
If you are thinking about having Laser Hair Removal, think of the Olympic athletes who did it for the reason that most people do, for aesthetics, practicality and confidence.
