Laser Hair Removal Overview
Laser Hair Reduction is a project that should be timetabled over the course of a year. If anyone is selling you a package that is less than that, then you are guaranteed to have to spend more! It’s like seeds in the soil of your flowerbed. One year’s seeding is seven years’ weeding!
After 6-9 treatments over the course of a year, it is very easy to deal with a few very thin, sparse hairs! Many of our clients at the Doctors Laser Clinic actually spend long periods virtually hair-free and smooth. They choose to occasionally return for £150 top-ups to keep them near that 100% mark!
What to Expect:
- You will need to shave closely the night before.
- The appointment will last about 60 minutes.
- Back Hair Removal treatment takes about 45 minutes.
- Clear gel is put on the skin to make it slippy so the handpiece can be stroked backwards and forwards across the area so-called ‘SHR in-motion technology’.
- The area gradually warms up and gets slightly prickly.
- Afterwards, a bit of redness around the hair follicle often settles in an hour or so.
- For the next ten days, the hair appears to continue growing.
- Between 13 and 21 days, most of the hair drops out.
- Most of the hair grows back within 4-6 weeks but finer.
- You are likely to see an immediate reduction in ingrowing hairs.
- Usually, by the 4th treatment (6 months since starting), there is a very noticeable reduction and the hair when it does return, is thinner and patchier.
- Most clients get dramatic early reductions, but it does regrow, especially if there is an “anagen flush”.
- The skin quality improves as the laser reconditions the collagen. It becomes softer and feels more sensual.
- If you are a poor responder, we will sometimes turn the laser to a different power setting (HR mode).
- By the 6th treatment, 80% of our clients will have at least 80% hair reduction.
- By the 9th treatment 90% of our clients will have 90% hair reduction.
- Some hair will regrow after the year – as much as 20% of what you originally had.
- Many Patients are delighted to maintain almost 100% hair-free with occasional top-ups that become very infrequent—maybe twice in the first year and less than that as time goes on.
We encourage our clients to take their own high-resolution photos before treatment so they can see the amazing changes as we progress.
