HyperhidrosisSingle Treatment

One Treatment

No Top Up Required

Deeply embarrassing dripping sweaty armpits with huge wet stains on the best of shirts and blouses (especially in social situations) – are no fun! It can also affect the palms of the hands and feet although it is less common.

Hyperhidrosis is caused by crazily overactive sweat glands driven by the autonomic nervous system. Approximately 3% of the population deals with the condition to varying extents with men and women being affected equally. Botulinum injections remain one of the best and least invasive solutions.

How effective is Botox®

Botox® toxin is a remarkably effective treatment for hyperhidrosis.  Treatment involves injecting minute amounts of Botox® into the superficial skin of the armpit. When these small doses are injected into the skin, the nerves that supply the eccrine glands (sweat glands) are blocked which prevents the glands from producing sweat. The effects can last between 3 and 6 months.

How many injections do I need

Between 25 and 50 injections are needed in each armpit.

The Benefits

By significantly reducing the amount of sweat produced you also reduce the chance of developing a bad body odour and of staining much loved silk and wool blouses. Talk about a confidence boost!

Is it safe

Using Botox® injections to block the nerves is safe. The sensation in the skin may be slightly numb for an hour after the treatment but this is normal and to be expected. Sometimes the injections can cause small bruises which will disappear within a few days.

Complications are rarely experienced with Botox®. When administered by a specialist, it presents no major harm to the body when treating hyperhidrosis and is only active in the very specific area where it is injected.
